Ralph C. DeMario, M.D., Medical Director for Hospice of the Sacred Heart, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is in private practice in Scranton, Pennsylvania and a member of PrimeMed, Incorporated.

Dr. DeMario is also active as a Board Member for the American Heart Association and Moses Taylor Hospital and Foundation. He also serves as the Medical Director for Telespond Senior Services.

It is, however, his experience and passion for hospice and palliative medicine that brings Dr. DeMario to us. Having served since 1989 as Medical Director for VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County, Dr. DeMario brings many gifts with him – compassion, commitment, and a strong knowledge base on how to provide the highest quality of care to this special population of patients.

Dr. DeMario is well known in the field of hospice and palliative care. He leads us in improving care at the end of life by educating our staff, the health care community, and the community at large.

Dr. DeMario has keen insights into the needs of patients and their families as this life-changing event unfolds. His patients are comforted by his knowledge and understanding of their needs, as well as the people with whom he works. His fluency in Spanish assists with the cultural diversity issues present at this time.
